CARE to make a
Difference...
Help Homeless Animals
There
are many animals who through no fault of their own find
themselves abandoned in shelters or are left to fend for
themselves in the city's streets.
Companion
Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) is devoted to
the rescue of stray, abandoned, injured, orphaned cats and
dogs, with special emphasis on feral cats. Volunteer-run,
we are dependent on public donations
to fund programs. There is no shelter facility at this time:
we run a network of foster homes.
Rescued
animals are immediately brought to veterinarians where they
are checked and treated for internal and external parasites,
treated for any injuries and/or illnesses, vaccinated and
spayed or neutered. Cats
are tested for Feline Leukemia
and F.I.V.; Dogs
are tested for Heartworm
and put on Preventive programs.
Social
and healthy animals are placed for adoption. Cats who are
unaccustomed to human contact are socialized in foster homes,
with the hope that some day they too will be ready to find
a forever home. Dogs without behavioural issues are placed
for adoption and cared for in foster settings until permanent
homes can be found. Dogs with issues will require temperament
testing, training and proper socialization.
